Privacy Policy

How virksomhedssalg.dk processes your personal data — in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Version 1.0 · Last updated: July 26, 2026

This page is an English translation for your convenience. This Privacy Policy is originally drafted in Danish; the English version is provided for information only. If there is any discrepancy between the Danish and English versions, the Danish version prevails. Read the Danish original.
In short: We only collect the information we need to run the business marketplace, process your payment, help you, and comply with the law. We do not sell your information. You have a number of rights — including the right to access, deletion, and to withdraw consent.

2. What information we process

Depending on how you use the Platform, we may process the following ordinary personal data:

  • Contact information: name, email, phone number and address.
  • Account and business information: username, password (encrypted), registration number (CVR) and publicly available business data retrieved from the Danish Central Business Register.
  • Listing information: the content you enter yourself, including description, images, price, and financial key figures for the business you are listing.
  • Payment information: transaction data and receipt data. The card number itself is processed by Stripe — not by us (see section 4).
  • Correspondence: messages and inquiries you send us (e.g. support) as well as reports of suspicious inquiries.
  • Technical information: IP address, device and browser data, and behavior on the website via cookies (see sections 5-6).

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data. Please refrain from uploading sensitive information (e.g. health, trade union membership, religion) in listings or messages.

4. Payment via Stripe

Payments are handled by Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. When you pay, your card details are entered directly into Stripe's payment solution. We only receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction data (e.g. amount, time, the last four digits, and card type). Stripe is an independent data controller for the processing of card data, among other things for fraud prevention and to comply with legal requirements. Read Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.

5. Statistics and marketing

With your consent, we use:

  • Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.) to measure use of the website and improve it.
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd.) to measure and target ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Google Ads (formerly Google AdWords) to measure the effectiveness of and target our search and display ads.

These services may set cookies and process information about your behavior. Some of these providers act as independent or joint data controllers for their own use of the information. You can withdraw your consent at any time — see our Cookie Policy. Processing for statistics and marketing never takes place without your prior consent.

6. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies. Which cookies, for what purpose, and for how long, are described in our separate Cookie Policy, where you can also change your consent.

We have entered into data processing agreements with our data processors that ensure information is only processed on our instructions and with appropriate security. Note that information in a published listing is visible to other users and visitors — that is the very purpose of a listing.

8. Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary for the purpose:

  • Account and listing information: for as long as your account is active, and generally deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after the account is closed.
  • Bookkeeping and payment records: for 5 years from the end of the financial year to which the record relates, cf. the Danish Bookkeeping Act.
  • Correspondence: for as long as relevant to respond to and document the matter.
  • Information for legal claims: until the claim becomes time-barred.

9. Transfer to countries outside the EU/EEA

Some of our providers (e.g. Google, Meta and Stripe) may process information outside the EU/EEA, including in the USA. When this happens, we ensure a lawful basis for transfer, typically the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (SCCs) and/or that the recipient is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. You can obtain information on the specific basis and a copy of the safeguards by contacting us at kontakt@virksomhedssalg.dk.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the information we process about you.
  • Rectification of inaccurate information.
  • Erasure ("the right to be forgotten") in certain cases.
  • Restriction of processing in certain cases.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interest, as well as to direct marketing.
  • Data portability — to receive your information in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

You exercise your rights by contacting us at kontakt@virksomhedssalg.dk. We respond without undue delay and generally within one month. Conditions or exceptions may apply to individual rights.

11. Mandatory information

Some information is necessary to enter into and perform the agreement — e.g. name, email and payment information. If you do not provide it, we cannot create your account, publish your listing, or process the payment.

12. Security

We have implemented appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, alteration or disclosure, including password encryption, access control, and encryption of traffic (HTTPS). Should a personal data breach occur that poses a risk to you, we handle it in accordance with the rules, including any notification to the Danish Data Protection Agency and to you.

13. Changes to this privacy policy

We may update this privacy policy. The version in effect at any time is available on this page with an indication of the update date. We will inform you of material changes where relevant.

14. Contact and complaints

If you have questions or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at kontakt@virksomhedssalg.dk. If you discover an error or outdated information in this policy, we would also like to hear from you so we can correct it.
