The Responsibility Check

A free self-assessment that helps you evaluate how well your business actually stands on responsibility — in 6 clear steps.

Note: This template is provided as an English translation for your convenience.

Where a responsibility policy describes what your business stands for, the responsibility check helps you find out whether you actually live up to it. It's not a certification or a legal requirement, but a structured self-assessment based on a recognized international method for how businesses work systematically with responsibility. Read our full walkthrough of what the responsibility check is, and how to use it (currently in Danish).

Why is this relevant if you're selling?

Professional buyers increasingly build ESG matters into their due diligence before bidding on a business. If you can document that you have your responsibility work in order, it strengthens confidence in the deal — and can make a sale process faster and smoother.

What does the template contain?

  • Embedding — is responsibility written into policies and anchored with management?
  • Risk mapping — in your own operations, supply chain and partnerships
  • Handling — concrete initiatives that prevent or limit problems
  • Follow-up — do you systematically follow up on whether the initiatives work?
  • Communication — can you document the work to customers and a buyer?
  • Remediation — do you have a process if something still goes wrong?

Each step contains short self-check questions you answer with Yes, Partially or No, so you can quickly see where you stand strong, and where there are gaps to close.

Should I do the check before or after the responsibility policy?

It can be done in either order, but many find it easiest to do the check first — it gives an honest picture of where you actually stand, which you can then build your responsibility policy around.
